Toby Causes Extremely Slow FirefoxAaddress Bar Search#770

Recently, I noticed that Toby is causing a very long delay 5-15 seconds when using the address bar to search.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Ensure Toby is set as the default New Tab page setting
2. Press Ctrl+t to open a new tab
3. Type some text in the address bar to search for using Firefox’s default search engine setting
4. Observe an extremely long wait before the search page is actually launched. Often, the CPU fan spins up very loudly while this delay is happening.

The only workarounds I have found are to either:

1. Disable Toby completely
2. Change the “New Tabs” page setting back to “Firefox Home (Default)”

Either of these solves the slow URL bar issue… but then I can’t use Toby as before 😞
